Unit X - MIF (Manchester International Festival)
The MIF live brief was a group project where we picked “Ritual” as our theme to develop a scheme that focuses on immersive interiors for the hospitality areas for Festival square. The approach to the design of these spaces is to reflect the holistic considerations of the social rituals of the visitor and service experience.

The project was to redesign the store in Preston to allow flexibility and efficiency within the space, hence providing an elevated shopping experience for customers.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Over the span of three months, I acquired knowledge from job-shadowing senior designers. I came to understand how a pratice in this industry functions for example, an in-depth understanding of all the requirements and details needed in a design process. I assisted in drafting floor plans for a new project. Besides, I managed to sharpen my rendering skills through doing visuals, at the same time, picked up SketchUp as a new skill. Aside from learning and acquiring knowledge from the seniors, I attended meetings where material and lighting suppliers showcase their latest products. Through these meetings, I learned that the properties of each material needed to be looked out for when selecting materials for different projects.

I learned the roles of each department therefore, understanding the importance of each. It gave me insight on how the company operates in the industry. Not only that I was given the opportunity to practice arranging mood and material boards on live project.
